The Parent Teacher Organization of the Greek School of the Assumption
would like to wish you and your families a very Happy New Year
filled with health and prosperity. As we reflect upon the events of
2009 we would like to thank all of you who supported our fundraisers
via donations, purchasing items or by volunteering your precious time.
Your support allows us to provide our students with extra curricular
activities and equipment that assist in enhancing their Greek School
education.
We would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to our Greek
School students and teachers on a job well done for their wonderful
and entertaining Christmas Pageant performance. Those who attended
the event on Tuesday, December 22, enjoyed the children’s
performances as well as the dinner and festivities of the evening that
were provided by the dedicated parents of the P.T.O. We thank you
for all of your generous donations and hard work.
As we begin our journey with Christ into Great Lent, witness His Passion
and await His glorious Resurrection we ask that you continue to
support the P.T.O. As we reflect upon our many blessings we must
show compassion to our fellow man as our Lord and Savior has taught
us. Together with the Sunday School the P.T.O. will be hosting a
Bake Sale on Sunday, February 28th. This bake sale is very special
because all of the proceeds and monetary donations will be donated to“The Red Cross” for the Haitian Relief Fund. With so much to be
thankful for we must join together and be “Good Samaritans” and help
those who are less fortunate and in need of assistance.
The Sunday School & Greek School P.T.O. will be hosting their annual
Saturday of Lazarus Breakfast and Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday,
March 27th. Everyone is welcomed to join us as we partake of
the Divine Liturgy and wonderful breakfast. The children will enjoy
games and festivities as we invite the parents to assist The Ladies
Philoptochos in making the Palms that will be distributed to the congregation
on Palm Sunday. Please purchase our beautiful handmade
Lambades/Easter Candles and join us in singing “Christos Anesti”“Christ is Risen”.
We invite you to join the Greek School P.T.O. students and teachers
on Sunday, April 11th as we all partake in The Greek Independence
Day Celebration and Greek School P.T.O. Spring Raffle
and Luncheon. This is a wonderful opportunity to come together as
Greeks, Family and Compatriots to remember and appreciate the sacrifices
and struggles that our forefathers had to endure, so that we
can preserve and teach our children our beautiful Greek language and
rich culture.
The P.T.O. typically meets every 2nd Tuesday of the month from
7:00 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. in the conference room located in the upper
level of the Community Center. P.T.O. membership dues are $10 per
family. The P.T.O. invites you to join our meetings and become an
active member in our organization. We look forward to meeting you
and helping you become your child’s advocate in their Greek Education
and Learning.
The P.T.O. would like to wish you and your families a blessed Lenten
season. May the blessings of our Lord and Panagia be with you and
your families.
Respectfully yours, on behalf of the P.T.O.,
Mrs. Dimitra M. Dimeck
P.T.O. President
